Data quality processing informationAdopted methodology were performed following the “Methodology for Monitoring Marine Litter on the Seafloor (Shallow coastal waters 0 – 20 m) - Visual surveys with SCUBA/snorkelling” that were prepared within the framework of the marine litter monitoring and assessment component of the DeFishGear project based on the EU MSFD TG10 “Guidance on Monitoring of Marine Litter in European Seas” (Galgani et al., 2013), the NOOA “Marine Debris Monitoring and Assessment: Recommendations for Monitoring Debris Trends in the Marine Environment (Lippiatt et al., 2013) and the “International bottom trawl survey in the Mediterranean, Instructional Manual” (MEDITS Working Group, 2013), taking into consideration the draft UNEP/MAP MEDPOL “Monitoring Guidance Document on Ecological Objective 10: Marine Litter (UNEP/MAP MEDPOL, 2014)”. All items visible with the naked eye and collected were entered on the data sheet developed in the framework of the DeFishGear project.
